REIKI CONVERSATIONS: How to Manifest your Life with Reiki, pt. 3 of 8
Manifestation Begins with Receiving: Balancing the Energy of Creation
By Colleen and Robyn Benelli
Key Takeaways: The Art of Receiving with Reiki
- The Balance of Creation: Creation flourishes when we balance giving and receiving. When we focus only on giving, we may find ourselves missing half of the creation life force.
- Empowering the Container: While releasing blocks is a wonderful step, manifestation also invites us to actively empower our capacity to receive. We can choose to open the door to the relationship, career, or abundance we are calling in.
- Reiki on the Fly: Receiving doesn't always need a long meditative session. We can practice "Reiki on the fly" to welcome clarity and blessings even during busy moments.
- Safe Community Spaces: Learning to receive involves leaning into safe environments where you can be your authentic self.
We are continuing our five-week series on manifestation with Reiki energy. We began this journey by focusing on listening and intention. Last week, we moved through the Burning Bowl Ceremony to release what no longer serves us. Now, we are arriving at a pivotal moment in the creation process: the week of receiving.
Receiving is often the missing piece in the manifestation puzzle. We live in a culture that highly values doing, giving, and achieving. However, to help an intention travel from the spiritual realm into your physical reality, it helps to be truly open to it. In our Distance Reiki Share discussion this week, we explored how receiving is not a passive act. It is a powerful state of inner awareness and alignment that allows your desires to take root.
The Spiritual Flow of Receiving
Creation is a dual process. During my early years of Shamanic and Reiki training between 1997 and 2000, I received a profound teaching from the spirit guide Kuan Yin. In a journey, she appeared and explained that creation is both giving and receiving. They work together to manifest; that is what allows physicality to form. She shared that if we only focus on giving, we are not fully participating in the complete life force of creation.
This wisdom highlights that receiving is not selfish. It is a fundamental law of physics and spirit. When we turn away from receiving, we may inadvertently slow the flow of life force energy needed to manifest our goals. Whether you are looking for a new home or a shift in your health, the energy flows when the field is open. Here is an article I wrote in Reiki News Magazine, Reiki and the Art of Receiving, by Colleen Benelli.
Moving Beyond the Identity of the "Over-Giver"
Many of us carry an identity of being capable and self-sufficient. My upbringing instilled in me a strong work ethic and a belief that I could do everything myself. While these are wonderful gifts, they can become imbalanced.
My own journey toward understanding this began with my horse. He went lame and communicated to me that he did so to deliver me to my power to heal. Even with such a direct message, I hesitated to get my Reiki attunements for eight months. I realized later that this pause was rooted in a deep block to receiving. I didn't believe I could simply receive an ability like Reiki; I thought I had to work hard, earn it, and deserve it through effort. It wasn't until his condition stayed stagnant that I finally let go of my resistance.
Receiving my Reiki attunements brought about an immediate and powerful transformation within me. I remember thinking “if this is real, what else is true?” Because we receive with Reiki when we give, the energy itself taught me about receiving. I had to learn how to harmonize my inherent personal strength with my ability to receive, accept grace, allow help, receive compliments. It took years and is still an ongoing awareness.
Balancing receiving with giving can be at the very core of our deepest inner work. It may reveal old religious or spiritual beliefs, such as the superiority of giving over receiving, “it is better to give than receive,” or the notion that suffering is a path to the divine. Reiki provides a gentle means to release these old structures, allowing us to fully accept a simple truth: our existence alone makes us inherently worthy of every blessing.
What is Empowered Receiving?
In our discussion, Robyn brought forward a distinction between releasing blocks and empowering receiving. We often spend a lot of time focused on what is standing in our way, the blocks, the limitations, and the resistance. While this is valuable work, we can also shift our lens to empowerment.
Empowered receiving means actively filling your space with the energy of what you want. If your intention is to manifest a relationship, you can practice being open to that connection. If your focus is on your finances or a promotion, you can stay curious about the information on how to achieve that.
This type of receiving is a form of co-creation where you work with the universe, Source, or Reiki. By opening this channel, you tap into what we call the seventh heaven, a web of interconnected consciousness where your desires already exist in energetic form.
Sometimes receiving looks like a sudden idea for a next step. Other times, it looks like the right person crossing your path. When you empower your receiving, you signal to the universe that your door is open and you are ready for your intention to arrive.
Listening as a Form of Receiving
Receiving and listening are deeply intertwined. In fact, listening is a form of inner awareness, the ability to hear yourself and stay in alignment with your own timing.
After years of practicing Reiki and mind management, listening has become my most important skill. It is more than just hearing words; it is whole-body listening. When you use Reiki to activate your chakras, you enhance your ability to perceive from different perspectives.
This inner listening helps you navigate the "urgency" that often overwhelms your daily life. I spent a long time operating in a fast-paced experience of urgency. Reiki taught me that while situations or deadlines can be urgent, I have learned not to hold the energy of extra urgency in my body. I use several tools, such as Reiki on the fly. By taking a moment to activate Reiki and listen to my inner truth, I can receive clarity even in the middle of a chaotic moment.
Practical Application: Reiki on the Fly
We do not always have an hour to sit in meditation. Sometimes, life invites us to practice "Reiki on the fly." The link is to an article I wrote.
Reiki on the fly might look like taking three minutes in the morning to set your field. It might be a simple thought as you are walking out the door: "I receive blessings today" or "I receive clarity." It is about bringing the intention you set weeks ago into your present moment.
You can use the Distance Symbol to connect with your intention in seconds. Allow the Reiki to come in and align your whole body. You can ask it to activate your gifts and soften any blocks to receiving. This practice bridges the gap between your spiritual life and your daily responsibilities.
FAQ: Common Questions About Receiving and Reiki
Why do I feel guilty when I receive?
Guilt around receiving often stems from cultural or ancestral conditioning. Many of us were taught that giving is virtuous and receiving is selfish. You can use Reiki to help shift this belief. You can remind yourself that by receiving, you are completing the circle of creation and offering others the gift of giving to you.
What if I don't have time for a full Reiki session?
This is where "Reiki on the fly" is so helpful. Receiving doesn't require a specific duration; it simply invites a moment of connection. A simple intention to be open to blessings as you start your day is a powerful act of manifestation.
Can Reiki help me know what actions to take?
Yes. Receiving is not just about the final result; it is also about receiving the information on how to get there. When you open your field, you may receive ideas, intuitive nudges, or "downloads" about your next right step.
How do I know if I am blocking receiving?
You might notice a pattern of deflecting compliments or help. You might feel a constriction in your body when someone offers you something, or find yourself constantly busy with little time to be still. You are invited to use your Reiki practice to gently inquire into these behaviors with kindness and without judgment.
What is the "Seventh Heaven" role in this?
As mentioned, the Seventh Heaven is a web of interconnected consciousness. When you are in a state of receiving, you receive the resources from this web, ideas, connections, energy, to flow toward you. It connects your current self with the future self.
