What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese technique for relaxation, stress reduction, and healing through the laying on of hands. It’s based on the concept of a life force energy that flows within us, influencing our health and well-being. Reiki promotes balance; low energy can lead to illness, while high energy enhances happiness and health.

The term Reiki combines “Rei” (meaning “Higher Power” or “God’s Wisdom”) and “Ki” (referring to “life force energy”). Reiki is a spiritually guided energy that, when channeled, feels like a radiant glow, benefiting body, mind, emotions, and spirit.

The Energy of Healing

Reiki is classified by the National Institute of Health as a form of complementary medicine and has been integrated into hundreds of hospitals and clinics nationwide including the Cleveland Clinic, Johns Hopkins, the Mayo Clinic and The Children’s Hospital, Boston.

Reiki is often used to address physical, emotional, and mental imbalances, aiming to restore harmony and enhance one’s sense of balance and calmness. Because Reiki is spiritually guided, it can also be used as a method of spiritual exploration. Learning Reiki doesn’t require belief; it’s passed on through attunements given during classes by Reiki Masters and  Reiki’s non-religious nature emphasizes harmony and promotes peaceful living.

Founded in 2004 by Reiki Master and Shaman Colleen Benelli and joined by her daughter Reiki Master Robyn Benelli in 2014, Reiki Lifestyle envisions a future where Reiki is a mainstream and fundamental element of personal and family care.
